Half Hollow Hills

Coached By: Doug Mayer

Former Half Hollow Hills East head coach Doug Mayer speaks highly of Chris Garvey today. After all, Garvey was a special player with exceptional stick work and one of the best midfielders to hale from the Hill's program.

"He was very quick and very smart on the field," Mayer said. "He could do just about anything with his stick."

Garvey was an All-American in high school and won the Ray Enners Award in 1984 as Suffolk County's best player.

He played college lacrosse at Harvard University and quickly rose to the top of the Crimson's program as an All-American honorable mention in 1987. He was also a second-team All-New England selection in 1987 and was thought of as a skilled midfielder, who added depth to the Crimson's roster, according to a newspaper article written on campus in the late 1980s.
